This vehicle came into production the same year founder HFS Morgan passed away and the company celebrated its 50th anniversary. Morgan’s are legends in the automotive world and this ’59 Plus 4 is no exception, climbing to new heights when the TR2 engine was replaced by the 100hp TR3 engine, allowing the coupe rapidly accelerate beyond 100mph. The TR3 was an engineering feat in its day, produced by Triumph as a 4-cylinder 1991cc with 8.5:1 compression, Twin SU induction, 100hp at 5000rpm, 117lb ft. at 3000rpm, iron block/head, ohv pushrod valvegear, Borg & Beck s.d.p. clutch and 4-speed Moss manual transmission. It also has a Z-section chasis, Burman/Cam & peg steering and 11-inch Girling disc brakes. 1808 of these cars were produced from 1956-64 and you won’t find many in such great shape as the one offered here.
