1936 Auburn 852 Speedster Replica-Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare" in Black with clear coat airbrushed details and grey leather with only 881 miles. In the early part of the 20th century, the Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg company produced some of the most desirable and expensive cars in the world. The Auburn Boattail Speedster is an American design Icon and an Art Deco Masterpiece. Auburn produced several versions of the Speedster between 1928 and 1937, but it was the 1935-36 851/852 Speedsters that are the most sought after today and can bring more than $500,000 at the world's most glamorous auctions. About 500 of the 1935 851's and 1936 852's were produced and they cost approximately $3750 at the time. They were powered by a Lycoming 4.5L straight 8 with a Schweitzer-Cummins Supercharger and developed 150hp and 230lb/ft of torque. Taken to the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1935, the Supercharged Auburn smashed the existing records for unlimited and American stock class speeds, swiping the boards clean in the categories from 1 to 3000km and set new class records for 1,6,12 and 24 hours running. They were about the raciest automobile that could be purchased at the time-there was a plaque on the instrument panel signed by test driver Ab Jenkins, verifying that the car had been tested at over 100mph. Speedster Motorcars of Largo Florida manufactured this replica of the 852 Speedster. The car is based on a proprietary tube-frame chassis and equipped with modern steering, suspension and brakes. It is powered by a 270hp GM V8 5.3 Vortec engine and a 4L60E 4 speed automatic transmission. The body is hand-laid fiberglass and the interior is furnished with quality leather seats and wool carpets. Alice Cooper, an American legend for his music and ghoulish showman commissioned this car "Welcome to My Nightmare" with the concept and graphics based on the 1975 album of the same name.
