VW KARMANN GHIA CONVERTIBLE
1970. Left hand drive (California import), Registration Number: SUF 843H
This beautiful, rust free, Karmann Ghia was imported on the 6th March 1991 from the sunny shores of California. Finished in period Flash Red with black hood and trim. Over the years thousands have been spent on this car maintaining and improving it. In 2005 it had a replacement single port, green engine which runs very well indeed on unleaded. A new black vinyl soft top with headlining and glass back window was also fitted around the same time.
Work completed Nov 2011 by us includes: new black carpet set, new door cards, rebuilt & recovered interior complete, using exact pattern reproduction covers, hand brake lever gaiter, cleaned and re-treated the floor pans, when changing the carpet (in very good condition), floorpans, replacement correct chrome hubcap set, replacement of both chrome bumpers (exact reproductions of the desirable ‘towel rail' American spec style) - very expensive!, cleaned and detailed front storage compartment and engine bay, attended to a small amount of cosmetic paintwork, various minor adjustments & refurbishments, custom made black canvass tonneau cover. The car has been waxoyled and is not rusty. It has recently had fitted inertia type seat-belts, recent replacement sun-visors, it has spare wheel,
original jack, period Blaupunkt radio cassette & the wheels have been powder
coated silver.
The history file shows that much work has been carried out, with regular
services and upgrades. We acquired the vehicle from its previous owner
who had the car for 10 years, It was used sparingly & always garaged.
There is an Hpi all clear certificate, new MOT and of course it's registered
as a historic vehicle so it's road tax fee exempt.
Tese stylish air cooled cars are now very collectable and excellent examples
such as this are now rarely available. An iconic collector's car, that is economical,
