Descrição
Painted and assembled by Lakeside Rides and Rods in Rockwell City, Iowa this all steel 1940 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery is the kind of street rod that we all dream of owning as kids and pledge to build as adults. Its super straight body is covered in a thick coat of vivid PPG Orange Pearl urethane that's sealed by a smooth and glossy clearcoat shell. And with an unbeatable combination of old school style and killer good looks, it absolutely nails the often attempted but rarely achieved formula of OEM quality and panel fitment in a highly detailed, completely custom package!
The sign of a high quality street rod is a significantly altered design which flows together so well it appears as though minimal work has been completed. And although this '40 Chevy might look simple, it features MANY custom touches that make a big difference in its appearance. At the front of the car, a welded steel grille rides between a shaved bumper and two frenched and integrated headlight housings which currently double as both modern tri-bar headlights and slick hidden turn signals. Behind that grille, a traditional two piece steel hood, that has been nosed and welded into one piece, sits above traditional front louvers which cap seamlessly integrated front fenders. And at the top of the car, a smoked, flush mounted split windshield combines with smoked side windows, shaved drip rails and shaved mirrors to emphasize the smooth and clean design. At the sides of the car, completely shaved sedan doors provide the longer and lower appearance of a chopped roof without having to sacrifice any headroom or ruin a perfectly good steel body. And a custom fuel door hangs over smoothed running boards and integrated rear fenders. At the back of the car, a smoked rear window rides above a familiar, satin finished tag bracket and bright stainless exhaust tips. And custom, flush mounted LED tail lights combine with a shaved rear bumper to perfect one of the best profiles ever created.
Lift this custom street rods glossy pearl hood and you'll find a rare and impressive 350 cubic inch LT4 Corvette motor which has been fully rebuilt to stock specifications and fully detailed for the show field. Straight from the factory, this killer small block utilizes a sturdy cast iron block, high flow two valve aluminum heads, a port matched intake, a high profile camshaft, aluminum rocker arms, and GM's famous reverse flow cooling system to create 330 horsepower and 340 lb./ft. worth of unmatched throttle response. At the top of the engine, a Street and Performance tuned port injection system sits below a custom body-matched fuel rail cover which perfectly complements polished, "LT4" branded valve covers. At the front of the engine, a chrome clad reusable air filter hangs above a chrome accented serpentine system which spins a chrome alternator and a chrome AC compressor via great looking billet pulleys. And at the sides of the engine, ceramic coated Street and Performance block hugger headers send spent gases into a tough sounding true dual exhaust system. Lighting the fires for this high RPM V8 is a new Painless Wiring harness which sends power through a factory GM coil and distributor to black high performance Taylor plug wires. And keeping things cool and in check is a proven Griffin aluminum radiator which is equipped with a chrome cap, a custom polished shroud and a quick spinning electric fan. Aesthetically, the smoothed engine bay still looks like it's fresh out of the paint booth; and all its ancillary components, like the body-matched brake booster, trick stainless hood prop, billet hood latch, billet dipsticks and braided hoses still maintain a brilliant finish which is more akin to an industrial art sculpture than a functioning automobile.
Steal a glance under this impressive 1940 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery and you'll see a chassis that takes the term 'crossover' to a whole new level! The big orange body has been channeled roughly six inches and bolted down over 1979 Chevy Malibu front and rear subframes to create what has to be one of the best mixtures of Chevrolet car and truck attributes ever imagined. At the center of the floor, the hot LT4 engine is bolted to a durable Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 transmission which spins a tough '79 Malibu 10 bolt rear end. And at the ends of the floor, a double A-arm front and four link rear suspension benefits from a standard issue '79 Malibu power steering system, Air Ride Technologies front shocks and Wilwood power four wheel disc brakes. Spent gases flow to the air through a mandrel bent true dual exhaust system which hangs great sounding Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers in front of excellent looking dual stainless tips. And power flows to the ground through beefy 215/40 front and 245/40 rear z-rated Michelin Pilot Sport z-rated radials that are wrapped around mirror-bright 17 inch front and 20 inch rear Weld Racing wheels. In keeping with the tradition of the engine bay, everything under this car has been coated in brilliant PPG Orange Pearl; and all the componentry, from the fresh braided brake lines to the custom aluminum fuel tank, has been upfitted to show winning standards.
You can credit a company by the name of Classic Custom Interiors for this Chevy's stunning, show-stopping cockpit. Covered in high quality tan leather, the custom upholstered Nissan bucket seats feature an overall design that is both simple and attractive. Between those seats, a custom tan console hides a Kenwood cassette player, the car's ignition switch and controls for the power windows and accessories behind small, flush fitting leather panels which hang just above built in courtesy lights. At the sides of those seats, custom kick panels hold great sounding speakers in front of custom door panels which flow from the dash to the back of the cargo area. And at the bottom of those seats, high-end tan carpeting rides below chrome trimmed foot pedals and thick, color-keyed floor mats. At the front of the car, a custom Bitchin' Products steel and leather wrapped dash props a full array of VDO gauges between an Air Ride Technologies air pressure gauge and a Vintage Air billet control panel. At the back of the car, a fully finished cargo hold is anchored by functional courtesy lights, a Kenwood CD changer, two more great sounding speakers and a Kicker amplifier that is bolted into a hidden storage compartment. And in front of the driver, an Ididit tilt steering column is topped by a great looking billet aluminum steering wheel, a complete set of billet stalks and a crystal clear gear indicator.
