1982 Mercedes Benz 280SL

This is the very best W107 model Mercedes Benz we have ever seen. The car is quite simply exceptional. The car has a wonderful history and is an original car kept in show winning condition. UWV 90Y has covered 34000 miles from new, has had five owners from new and comes with an outstanding history to include the original bill of sale, original Mercedes Benz workshop cards, PDI’s, service booklets, service invoices and a boot full of show prizes. The last two previous owners are long terms regular customers of ours, one in Masham, North Yorkshire and the other in Inverness.

The Mercedes Benz was bought new by the lady owner of a Brighton nursing home. According to the Mercedes Benz owners club, the lady was walking onto the Brighton sea front during the summer of 1982 and spotted a bright yellow Mercedes Benz SL, driving with the roof down. She instantly decided she would like one and the Brighton dealership Prestwich Motors Ltd were happy to oblige and took her 230E model in part exchange. Several weeks later she became the very proud owner of a very rare Sun Yellow W107 Mercedes Benz. In the first eleven and a half years the Mercedes only covered 10600 miles, coming out of the garage for short local journeys. Her local Mercedes Benz dealership serviced the car at 2,496 miles, 3583 miles, 5160 miles, 7270 miles and 10,524 miles in 1993 and all documentation is with the vehicle.

In March 1994 the Mercedes Benz was placed in the Sunday Times classified adverts. A couple from Aberdeen saw the advert and booked a flight to Heathrow, meeting the owner and being driven to her North West London home. The Mercedes was reversed out of the garage and having spent two hours trying to find fault unsuccessfully, the Mercedes was on the way to Aberdeen, covering more mileage in eight hours than in the previous two years. In 1995 the car won Marlene Pearson trophy at Doune for the best lady owned Mercedes Benz and in August 1997 the car took part in the Roger Pearson trophy for the best Mercedes Benz sports in the concours d'elegance at the Mercedes Benz club national three day rally at Pitlochry. Between 1994 and 2000 the Mercedes Benz covered almost 9000 miles before being sold to the third owner in the Stirling area of Scotland. 

The third owner near Stirling covered 13000 miles up to 2013 and two years ago we sold the car to one of our regular customers near Masham in the Yorkshire Dales who has covered around 500 faultless miles in the car. The Mercedes has spent the majority of its life garaged and has been superbly maintained with MOT certificates and service/maintenance invoices kept each year, nicely filed in the extensive history file. The car has an impeccable history file detailing the servicing and maintenance from new and as expected from the detail, the condition of the car is outstanding.

UWV 90Y drives perfectly and was driven here from Masham before selling to a Doctor in Inverness, one of our regular buyers. The car is faultless on the road and exactly as you would expect with 34000 miles and an exceptional service history. The condition of the car is remarkable and original. The bodywork is stunning, the Sun Yellow paintwork gleaming. Chrome work, wheels, upholstery and both hard and soft tops are in excellent order and the car is ready to be entered into a show or taken out for a Sunday afternoon drive.
