1965 Jaguar

DVT 505C was manufactured on 17th August 1965 and was supplied new by Byatts of Fenton, Stoke on Trent to its first owner in the Greenwich area of South London. The car was dispatched to Mr Bird of London SE18 on 24th August in Warwick Grey with Red upholstery and is a factory supplied 3.8 Manual with Overdrive model. The Jaguar didn’t spend long in London and during the 1970’s was located in Poole, Dorset and later moving close by to Bournemouth. Interestingly, many of the best original, honest Jaguar saloons we have come across in almost twenty five years dealing in classic cars spent their early life on the South Coast with retired, careful owners.

During the 1980's and 1990's DVT 505C spent the majority of its time in the Bristol area and had three lady owners in the City over 21 years from 1980 to 2001. In 2001 the S'Type sold to its most recent owner in the North of Scotland where it has been cherished, well maintained and nicely detailed over almost fifteen years of ownership. MOT certificates and invoices have been kept with the car showing it has covered almost 10,000 miles since 2001. Invoices are mainly for upkeep and maintenance and detail replacement parts such as a brake master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, ignition items, general service items, engine mountings, gearbox mountings and some cosmetic work to include treating and French polishing the wood dashboard.

DVT 505C retains a high level of originality and is a beautiful looking car that has only had summer use since 2001. It stands correctly with a stunning body with impressive shut lines, gaps and straight panels. Still in its original colour, the Warwick Grey paintwork has a delightful, gleaming finish and chrome work is very good throughout. The car rides on a set of smart chrome wire wheels and tyres, glass and rubbers are all in very good order. The upholstery tells the story of a remarkably original, honest car that has clearly been incredibly well preserved its whole life. The original leather upholstery is in fabulous condition and inside of the car has a strong feel of quality and class. Woodwork is delightful, good quality carpets look excellent and the headlining and door cards are all in very smart order. The boot is nicely presented and it is no surprise to see an excellent spare wheel well and original complete Jaguar tool kit. The engine bay is clean, smart and very original. 

On the road the S'Type is outstanding and with the benefit of independent rear suspension the car arguably has a better ride than the MKII Jaguar. With power assisted steering, the desirable 3.8 litre engine and four speed all syncro gearbox with overdrive, this S'Type is a true drivers car and will not disappoint. DVT 505C is well maintained, has arrived with us in strong mechanical order and will be supplied with a full 12 months MOT and fully prepared with a function check and service in our workshop prior to leaving us.
