Description
This beautifully presented MGC Roadster has been driven to us from Scotland. The MG covered over 200 miles faultlessly and can be described as truly outstanding to drive. We have known the car for around fifteen years and have sold it on three previous occasions.
We first sold the car in 2001, taking a TR3 in part exchange from an Electrical Engineer who is a well-respected classic car enthusiast. Since selling the MGC back to us through part exchange after around two years, his interests have focused towards Jaguars, buying from us a MKI, XK150, E-Type Series One FHC and most recently a MKII over a ten year period. Over the two years with the MGC, he meticulously went over the car both mechanically and electrically, making sure the C was in exceptional condition and ready for shows and rallies. Brakes were re-conditioned, the engine set up perfectly, knock on Minilights fitted, a new hood fitted and the car thoroughly serviced and checked through carefully. From 2006 - 2014 the MG was owned by an East Yorkshire Classic Car Club member who in recent years has had little time to use the car, only covering 4500 miles in eight years.
In 2014, over twenty years since major rebuild, we carried out substantial work to include a full re-paint, fitting a new water pump, bottom hose, rear brake shoes, MG steering wheel boss and we carried out a full service and fitted a new hood and tonneau cover. The MGC soon sold and was driven to Scotland without hesitation. ABP 212G was then subject of careful detailing and was treated to a new boot carpet set, replacement leather seats, new walnut dash, new carpets, rear bumper and over-riders and the engine bay was detailed to a very high standard.
The MG was originally restored back in the early 1990's and the car has covered 24500 miles since 1993. We have photographs of the body being subject of a full restoration and engine stripped down and rebuilt. Invoices for various work during the early 1990's are with the car to include suspension and brake re-commissioning and various mechanical restoration work. ABP 212G today presents in stunning condition with excellent paintwork and a superb straight bodyshell. The chrome work is in very good condition, the hood excellent and knock on Mini-light wheels are still very presentable. The MGC comes with a lovely, smart upholstery with black leather seats with red piping, new carpets, excellent door cards, new wood dashboard and excellent hood. Overall the car presents superbly with now a first class engine bay and smartly presented boot.
Mechanically ABP 212G is excellent with a strong engine offering superb performance. The engine pulls strongly through the gears, has no knocks or rattles and holds good oil pressure. There is no smoking, the engine runs smooth, cool and correctly set up. It is remarkably impressive to drive and offers a wonderful exhaust note. The four speed gearbox feels tight with good gear changes and synchromesh, the overdrive comes in and out smoothly and the car handles and brakes superbly. The C is a true pleasure to drive and is outstanding on the open road. The six cylinder engine sounds wonderful and contributes to a really exciting driving experience.
