1957 Aston Martin

This 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 Fixed Head Coupe “notchback” is one of only 37 cars produced with this body styling and on which a full restoration is now nearing completion.  During this process the body was removed from the chassis and all corrosion has been eradicated and various aluminium body panels have been replaced. No expense has been spared to bring the car back to the condition it was in when it left the Feltham Works 58 years ago. The metal and paintwork was entrusted to marque experts and the body finish is now in a combination of Gunmetal Grey with Rhodium Silver roof and is finished to the highest standard. Prior to replacing the body to the chassis, the chassis was painted in a protective coating of chassis black and items such as the bulkhead and underside of the bonnet have been finished in body colour as per the Motor Show cars of that year.   The interior is finished in deep burgundy Connolly hide with best quality Wilton Carpet complimented with a high gloss finish Walnut veneered dashboard with refurbished instruments and switches throughout. The chrome work is again to the highest standard and has been replaced with new where necessary.   The engine has been professionally stripped and rebuilt to the highest standard by Ray Buckley who is an expert on these engines using mainly new components and has been upgraded to "Fast Road" specification.   Both Gearbox and rear axle have also been completely stripped and rebuilt and the car boasts a new electric wiring loom with “Luminition”, new brake and fuel lines, completely overhauled braking system and a new stainless steel exhaust. It is also fitted with a new aluminium water radiator for improved cooling and an overhauled heating system.  The original 60 spoke wire wheels have been rebuilt and painted in Burgundy to compliment the interior but could be changed for chrome wires if preferred. It currently sits on new Avon Turbospeed Nylon Mk4 crossply tyres similar to those fitted when the car was new.  The reading on the odometer is 86,586 miles which we believe to be correct and prior to restoration the car was purchased from a collector who had had it stored for many years, intending to restore it when time allowed.   This is a very car indeed in beautiful condition and would undoubtedly enhance any car collection.  Please enquire for more details
