Introduced in October 1934 to replace the well-proven Minor, the new Morris 8 had a slightly longer stroke engine and a cylinder capacity of 918cc. The new model was offered in two and four door saloon versions and also in open tourer form both in two and four seater configurations. The model catered well for the first time car buyer, battling with Austin and Ford in this marketplace. The new car offered lively performance, 40mpg economy and had the luxury of synchromesh on second and top gears.

Of the 164,102 cars produced approximately 24,000 were tourers, and WP 8164 is one of the rare 2-seater models. This very attractive car was first registered on 26th February 1935 in Worcestershire, and is known as a pre-series car, the term Series I being introduced in June that same year. Costing £118 plus £2.10 for the optional bumpers and indicators, and the Morris 8 remained in production, in various forms, until 1948.

Owned and much loved for many years by the late Geoff Beech of Luton, and known as 'Felix', the car was rebuilt by him and used extensively in the UK and on foreign jaunts including at least once to the Arctic Circle.

After some years spent in storage, Felix has now been nicely recommissioned, wearing new black paintwork, hood and side screens and tyres. According to the current owner the engine is 'as good as new' and Felix certainly runs very sweetly.

A current V5c to safeguard the local valuble registration number and a green logbook dating back to 1972 accompany the Lot.
