1970 Austin 3 Litre

The Austin 3 –litre saloon was produced between 1968 and 1971. It was rather unfairly nicknamed the “land-lobster” because of its proportions and after the “landcrab” or 1800 with which it shared its front and rear doors. Despite poor sales – just 10,000 were produced it was actually a very good car with excellent ride and lusty power from its Austin Healey related six but it never achieved the image of its predecessor, the Westminster, or the offerings from Rover and Triumph that it competed against.This car is a rare survivor – a 1970 3 litre manual with overdrive gearbox and power steering. The mileage is correct at just 32,000 miles. It was registered new in Aberdeen and has been in the hands of two collectors there for the last thirty years, for many years on display in a local dealership. The body and paint are in fine order and the underside is in excellent original condition. The interior trim is all original and very good although there are two small splits in the drivers seat which our trimmer has priced but not attended to yet. On the road this rare and imposing classic drives beautifully and the overdrive works as it should. Ready to use with full MOT.
