Description

1969 Daimler V8 250

Now there are barn finds, and there are
barn finds, and this lovely old Daimler has
been tucked away for many years. The
difference between this one and your
average barn find is that this one is in
absolutely amazing condition.
It appears that the car had a full body and
structural rebuild in the nineties, and this
has been confirmed by the owner of the
coach works who owned the car at the time.
For those familiar with the marque, you'll be
pleased to know that absolutely every
traditionally poor aspect of these cars was
attended to, and a measure of the quality
of the work was that, for example, brand new
front wings were fitted, along with a set of
later spec, brand new stainless steel bumpers
and overiders. Equally, the chassis and floor
pans of the car are now in exceptional
condition, and on ramp viewing is sure
to impress.
If you find the structural integrity of the
car impressive, you'll find the interior to
be absolutely spectacular. We have a well
known, professional trimmer near to our unit,
and he recognised his handiwork immediately.
The ENTIRE interior has been renewed. The
seats have been completely rebuilt and
retrimmed in beige Connolly leather, new
carpets and headlining fitted, and even all
of the woodwork and dash have been replaced.
It appears to be some years since all of this work had been carried out, and yet amazingly, the car has sat, garaged and unused ever since. The protective plastic covering is still on the upholstery !
She's now off the button, and that glorious V8 sounds absolutely wonderful. On the open road, the car pulls strongly through the auto box, and although the brakes are fine, they feel a little "wooden" through lack of use.The car is fitted with the optional power steering.
All that we have done is lightly re commission the car, fitting a new battery, attending to sticking brakes, and of course replacing oils and fluids. The car sailed through an MOT, but there is still some scope for tinkering and improvement. Mainly, the car needs to be used !
So there we have it, surely a car for the Daimler / Jaguar enthusiast. All of the hard work, and much more, has been completed, and as you can imagine, many, many thousands of pounds have been lavished on this car.
As I say, on ramp inspections are welcome and encouraged, but please ring prior to travelling as we'd hate to disappoint. Classic sports cars and motorcycles enthusiastically considered in part exchange
