1966 Austin

This is one of the original Mokes first supplied to Catalina, a small rocky outcrop of just 22 by 8 miles that became a smart resort for the jet set. A speed limit of 25mph and a strict limitation on the number of motor vehicles made the 100 Mokes very popular amongst the wealthy tourists who would roar about the island in summer months. The Mokes gained legendary status, soldiering on as they did well into the 1980's at which point the now rather tired vehicles were sold off by the island’s owner as one lot via Hemmings News. 

A few of these vehicles found there way to UK Moke specialist Bespoke Mokes and this example is the very first ex Catalina Moke to be completely restored to exceptionally high ‘better than new’ standards. The car was completely stripped back to component form and all items rebuilt or replaced with correct genuine components by experts. The quality and detail level of the work completed is truly extraordinary ? for example, each spot weld on the body is minutely positioned and size correct and any body parts requiring replacement were remade using the original factory machines. 

A very special Moke with a great story and personality finished to the highest standards and ready to be enjoyed over the forthcoming summer. Great fun to drive and so usable with a great colour combination that transports you straight back to sunny California!
