1992 Ferrari 512 TR

Imported by Ferrari North America in 1992, this 512 TR was originally sold at Lake Forest Sports Cars in Lake Forest, Illinois on May 14 1992 to Tom Kelley Buick in Ft. Wayne Indiana. The car would stay in the area for 20 years, but would find a new home in New York in 2003 with just over 27,000 miles on the odometer. There is would be regularly serviced and well maintained until 2014, including a $10,000 major vehicle service in 2012.

Since arriving at Canepa the TR has received a major engine-out service that included the timing belts and a complete engine reseal. This being Canepa, while the engine was out we took the opportunity to completely hand clean and show detail the engine and engine bay. The rest of the car has received a concours level detail making this Rosso Corsa masterpiece present as well as it did when it left the showroom in 1992.

The normal production of the 512 TR started slowly in April 1991. For a long period they built the Testarossa and the 512 TR simultaneously. The first cars (mainly US versions) went to clients in December 1991. Total production was 2261 cars. 408 of those cars were delivered to North America.

From the outside, the main differences with the Testarossa were: 
18 inch wheels with a new design 
The disappearance of the black stripe at the lower part of the side 
New front bumper like on the 348 series 
New engine hood and modified fins 
New rear lights 

Internally there were changes to the seats, steering wheel design and trim details. Mechanically there were numerous changes to the engine (type F113D040 with Bosch Motronic 2.7) and to the gearbox, also lowering them in the chassis by 30mm.
