Description
Here is the incredibly rare continuous history of this 1966 Shelby GT350 6S1693. Shipped to Carter Auto Transport (Newark, NJ) 10/4/66. Date ordered 3/6/67. Shipped to Dockery Ford (Morristown, NJ) 4/4/67; they were invoiced $3,867 plus $50 LeMans stripes plus $40 rear seats plus $107.75 freight for a total $3,064.75; two days later Dockery received a deduction of $164.75 making the final price $2,900. Purchased by the original owner Edward Blackstead (Montclair, NJ) 4/6/67. 6/30/67 the parking brake handle was replaced with 3,639 miles. Purchased by Stephan Petren (Lowell, MA). Purchased by unknown owner (Dracut, MA). Purchased by Frederick Hemingway (Weymouth, MA) '78 with an aftermarket roll bar and side exhausts. The back of the rear seats fold down and there is no seat bottom. Hemingway tired of the noise from the side exhaust and installed a rear exhaust. Purchased by Nick Gardner (Berkeley, MA) '78. Purchased by Beach Ford (Virginia Beach, VA) '77. Purchased by Donald E. Wright (Rivesville, WV) 2/9/88 who removed the roll bar and installed the stock rear seats. For sale on eBay with a closing date 10/26/99 but did not sell. Purchased David S. Mohrhardt (Traverse City, MI) 12/6/99 who put it up for sale on eBay with a closing date of 6/19/10 and no sale. Purchased by Colin Comer (Milwaukee, WI) 7/7/10 who drove the car from Traverse City to Muskegon, MI in "the worst rain storm ever" before getting on the Lake Express ferry with 6S1693 and sailing the rest of the way to Milwaukee. Comer then enjoyed driving the car for a year before restoring it. During restoration the upper control arms were lowered, a 3.25:1 ring and pinion were installed, the original engine was rebuilt and dyno tuned by George Forge and the original transmission was rebuilt with NOS parts by David West. After restoration Comer loaned 6S1693 to friend David Hidalgo (owner of 5S502) who completed the 2012 Copperstate 1000 road rally in it at triple-digit speeds that Comer said "hurled defiance at the strict instructions I gave Hidalgo but certainly proved the quality of my restoration." Featured in the Motorbooks International Shelby calendar (September) as well as in Comer's "The Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles" and "Shelby Mustang Fifty Years" books. Purchased by Richard Baum (Rochester, NY) 12/17/12. Comer states he regretted selling 6S1693 and on 7/7/14 righted that wrong when he traded 6S1573 to Baum to get 6S1693 back. The most important thing is that every bit of sheet metal is original as is every single dated component on the car.
