1962 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK II ROADSTER #HBT7L/16602. (Stock #3727.) Austin Healey upgraded its 3000 roadster in 1961 and, for 14 months, built a more powerful “Mark II” version using the same 3 litre, 6- cylinder engine as the original 3000 but now with a hotter cam and triple carburetors. This raised the horsepower to 132 and the 0-60 acceleration time to just over 10 seconds. Austin Healeys in general have become very collectible and the tri-carb. version especially so. Ours is a California “Black Plate” car which was fully restored there prior to its owner giving the car to his nephew in New Jersey. It was immediately traded in to a Ferrari dealer who sold the car to a customer in Tuxedo Park, New York, an English and Italian car collector who has now traded the car to us. Correctly finished in original Colorado red with dark red leather, it is fitted with the original 4-speed-with-overdrive transmission and 15” “knock-off” wire wheels. Typical of cars delivered new in California, this car has a fabulous original body, beautiful correct leather and exacting panel fit. It drives exactly as it should and is in truly fine condition throughout and is accompanied by its original owner’s manual. Driven just 5,894 miles since restoration. $59,000.
