1986 BMW M635csi

Launched in 1983, and in production until 1989, the M635CSi was one of the iconic super cars of the 1980’s, with 282 BHP on tap and a top speed of 158 MPH and a 0-60 time of just over 6 seconds, it is desirable today as it was then. BMW Motorsport introduced the M635CSi in Europe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1983. It is essentially an E24 powered by the power plant of the BMW M1 - the M88 (286 PS (210 kW; 282 hp)). Most of the cars were equipped with special metric 415 mm diameter wheels requiring Michelin TRX tires. All M6 cars came standard with a 25% rear limited slip differential. Car and Driver tested a U.S. M6 in July 1987 and achieved a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds, better than the BMW published 6.4 and 6.8 second times for the European and U.S. versions respectively. 4,088 M635CSi cars were built between 1983 and 1988 of which in total only 522 of the faster non KAT cars were produced for the UK market between 1984 and 1989, this car is the 65th produced. Delivered new on the 21st February 1986, by Harry Fairburn Ltd of Glasgow, registered as C860MWJ, with one recorded owner since 1995, this low mileage M 635 CSi has been meticulously maintained, both through regular local Service supported by more specialist service work being carried out by Munich Legends. Service for the first 31K miles was carried out by the supplying dealer, the service records and invoices recommence with the last owner covering the period from April 1995 at 71849 miles, to July 2013 at 86056 miles, today the mileage is 86477, it therefore covered only 17628 miles over the last 21 years. The mileage is supported by the BMW service book and the substantial service history recording some £21390 of expenditure during the period.

Overall comments

An extremely well maintained and documented M635CSi, which will appeal to the most discerning collector of BMW motor cars, due to being well cared for by the fastidious previous owner, and kept in unmarked condition, being cosseted and pampered for 20 years. Supplied with original BMW Service Book including PDI, Service bills and invoices for the period 1994 to date.

Body

Finished in Polaris Silver with black leather, only 20 cars of the total 522 built were finished in this combination, the paintwork, and interior are in excellent condition.

In excellent well serviced condition, bills are on file for a substantial engine service and strip down, including cam chain replacement at 79049 miles by Munich Legends at a cost of £7279.51, the last oil change and brake fluid change having taken place some 400 miles ago, following replacement callipers, brake discs, master cylinder, and upgrade at 84500 miles
