Description

1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 or Daytona remains one of the most iconic cars ever to come from Maranello; at one time the fastest production car produced and one of the most competent Grand Tourers ever to wear the prancing horse.
The 365 GTB/4 was revealed at the 1968 Paris Salon, and was instantly different to the 275 series of V12s that preceded it. The Daytona became an icon of both speed and style; that curvaceous body combined with the 4.4-litre Colombo V12 pushing out around 350bhp and a top speed of 174 mph.
However, as special as the Daytona remained, Ferrari revealed the 365 GTS/4 or Spider variant at Frankfurt 1969, which was to instantly become one of the rarest and most famous Prancing Horses ever produced.
Not only did the shape of the Daytona lend itself perfectly to a soft-top variant, the fact that only 122 Spiders were produced (a fraction of the total Daytona production) has ensured that long term demand has always been incredibly strong.
In fact, the desirability for Daytona Spiders has seen a number of coupes be converted over the years, further enforcing the fact that these are undoubtedly the most sought after variant. As with the hard top, the majority of Spiders were sent to the US, where the open-air V12 thrills fitted perfectly with the market.
The car we are proud to offer is 1 of the original 122 Spiders; built in December 1971 and believed to be the 35th example produced. The vehicle was delivered new to the West coast and equipped with factory air conditioning and chromed Borranis.
This Daytona Spider benefited from a full in-house restoration, seeing it finished in its current colour combination of Grigio over Bordeaux, possibly the strongest combination. Further, the car has barely been used since we completed the works, meaning that the condition of the car is absolutely magnificent.
In addition, this 365 GTS/4 is complete with Classiche certification from the factory, making it one of the finest examples in existence, let alone on the market.
The Daytona Spider remains one of the most collectible Ferraris ever produced, and with such low numbers produced, will always be a fantastic investment opportunity, on top of being one of the finest V12s to own and drive.
