1937 MG

Looking for a pre-war touring car with reliability, then this early narrow rear winged MG TA with fitted TC engine and synchromesh TC gearbox could be ideal. Not mucky and wrong like so many you see for sale, but a sound, tidy, properly presented MG.

The problems associated with the long stroke, white metal bearing TA engine are well known, and many pre-war TAs have been fitted with the reliable TB/TC XPAG unit and far better TC gearbox to illiminate the weakness of the original TA power unit. (That's not to say there aren't good TA engines out there, but they are difficult to obtain parts for now and very prone to cracking blocks & cylinder heads.)

This example has been right through a major refurbishment in our own workshop. Rebuilt steering, a full engine service, with carbs. stripped and overhauled. New regulator and fuse box, wiring and turn signals have been fitted, as well as new choke and start cables, starter motor switch and distributor.

The seats are so good, we cannot ascertain if they are factory originals in superb condition, or early Collingburn, when he could get the original leather. (Oh, for those days!) But either way they are magnificent in deep cherry red leather to complement the MG red of the bodywork. Correct chronometric instruments, FT 27 foglamp, Lucas 'Altette' horn, and factory quick release rocker box. A black double-duck twin rear window roof, sidescreens and tonneau cover complete the car. You can be assured that nothing goes out of here until it is up to standard, unlike many advertised or found at auction. 

This very nice pre-war MG offers comfort, good hydraulic braking, synchromesh gearbox, uprated power unit, entry to prewar events and easy to drive open top motoring------yes even the wife will feel she'll want a go. You may need 2 then!, not wives, cars! Best get this bought before the next man's wife sees it........
