A 1929 Desoto Roadster

We hate to use the words “Amateur Restoration” when describing this car because the restoration was done so well and thoroughly that it could go head to head with a professional restoration any day. The body has been well done in a great two tone paint scheme. It’s straight and even and shows that the person really took their time with the prep before painting. The pin striping though not perfect, is well done especially considering free hand pin striping is one of the most difficult crafts to master.

The interior was well done to the point where this does look professional. Though we cannot be sure we suspect that the person that restored this car had some professional experience with upholstery, perhaps in the field of boats.

The convertible top is no different in its quality showing skill, patience and great care in its sewing and fitting. At the very back you have the rumble seat which is great for anyone out on a Sunday cruise or on their way to a show.

The engine is correct however the electrical system is 12 volt and has had an alternator put in place of the generator assembly, which is a common conversion and one that is even suggested for drivability. The engine starts and runs well and the rest of the mechanicals follow suit.

The only evident mechanical issue is that the hydraulic brakes require servicing.

It is rare that someone who is a hobbyist can impress with their skill and craftsmanship but this is definitely the rare exception.
